Feed A Mosquito Feeding Guide – How to Feed a Mosquito

How feeding works in Feed A Mosquito: build blood (your health), start the feed at a placed mosquito, and reach 100% to grow it and raise its payout.

Feeding in Feed A Mosquito means letting a mosquito drink your own blood — and your blood is your character's health bar. The game's official how-to-play description makes it a core loop step: "Feed your mosquitoes with more blood." In practice, you hatch a larva, place the mosquito in your base, walk up to it, and start the feed. The mosquito latches onto your character and drains your health while its feed percentage climbs. At 100% it is fully fed — visibly bigger and paying more cash per second — and your health refills on its own afterward.

There is no separate feeding menu. The interaction happens at the mosquito itself, wherever you placed it in your base.

How feeding works: your health is the blood

A few facts explain everything else about the loop:

  • Blood equals health. You gain blood by sitting on your regen furniture — a chair at first, upgradable through toilet, bathtub, bench and bed. One new player spelled it out: the health he gains by sitting down is "my blood, in this case."
  • Health refills automatically. After a mosquito drains you, your bar recovers on its own, so feeding is repeatable: feed, recover, feed again.
  • Every mosquito arrives unfed. Whatever hatches from an egg must be fed with your blood before it reaches its full payout.
  • Drain scales with quality. A weak starter mosquito "barely pulls your life," while better mosquitoes drain more per feed. Players size up their health before a risky feed — one checked his stock before a big larva ("I think 184 should be able to handle this").
  • One mosquito at a time. The game does not let several mosquitoes drain you simultaneously.
  • Health does double duty. The same bar you spend on feeding is your resistance in the field when you fight boss mosquitoes for new eggs.

How to feed a mosquito, step by step

  1. Get a mosquito into your base. Fight the boss mosquitoes in the field until a larva drops, carry the egg back to your plot, place it, and hatch it — a first common egg was ready in about 7 seconds in one recorded run — then place the hatched mosquito anywhere in your base. Our mosquito eggs guide covers the egg side in more detail.
  2. Top up blood first. Sit on your regen seat until your health is comfortable. Weak mosquitoes barely cost you anything; bigger ones need a much larger buffer.
  3. Start the feed. Approach the placed mosquito and use the feed prompt that appears there. The mosquito latches onto your character and starts draining your health.
  4. Stay put while it drinks. The feed percentage climbs as it drains you, and the mosquito visibly grows along the way. You can drop it mid-feed to stop the drain early — recorded players did exactly that when the drain got uncomfortable.
  5. Finish at 100%. A complete feed ends when the counter hits 100%. From there the mosquito is fully fed and pays its maximum rate.

What feeding costs and what you get

The cost is your health bar; the gains show up on the mosquito itself.

ObservableWhat happens when feeding succeedsObserved example
Your healthDrains while the mosquito is attached, then refills automaticallyA new mosquito "keeps draining our blood," and the player recovers on their own afterward
Feed percentageClimbs toward 100%; that counter hitting 100% is a fully fed mosquitoAn early mosquito reached 100% and paid 18 cash per second; another ran "80%… 90%. Done." and paid 24 per second
Mosquito sizeThe mosquito visibly grows as it is fedAt 40–50% fed, one player noted it "keeps growing even more" compared to when it hatched
Cash payoutRises toward the mosquito's maximum as the percentage climbsOne mosquito paid 10 per second unfed, 26 mid-feed, and 50 per second at 100%

Other recorded examples back the same pattern: a mosquito hit 30 per second just before 100%, a fully fed one earned $45 per second, and one player called a fed mosquito's $84 per second ready to collect. Treat all of these numbers as single-session examples from two playthroughs, not a fixed table — the exact blood volume each tier consumes is not documented.

One collection detail: earned money does not land in your wallet automatically. Walk over the green circle on your plot to pick up what your mosquitoes have paid out.

Feeding limits and failure states

  • One mosquito at a time. Even a player with an army of mosquitoes could only feed them one by one: "Please tell me I can feed multiple mosquitoes at once. Why can't this game let me do that?"
  • Too little health aborts the feed. Large mosquitoes drain blood faster than a low-health character can sustain. One player stopped feeding a mythical-tier mosquito mid-drain ("I need to get more health before I can do this… I can't handle it yet"), bought couch and bed regen upgrades, and retried. Another prepared 184 health for a large larva and still had to call it off. How much health any given tier needs is not documented.
  • Huge mosquitoes can drain everything at once. A shock mosquito "literally instantly takes all my blood." Late in one run, a player could not fill a Kraken-tier mosquito even after boosting to 1 million health — that is one attempt at one progression point, not proof the mosquito can never be fed.

Need more blood first?

If your health bar is too small for the mosquito you want to feed, the fix is on the resource side: regen furniture and steady blood income. The how to get blood guide covers building and refilling your supply. It is also worth a quick check of the codes page for anything currently active before you grind.
